American-born William Eggleston is one of most recognized photoghraphers. He established colour photography as legitimate artistic medium in art galleries and museums while had the first one-person exhibition of colour photographs in the history of MoMA.
Eggleston finds "the uncommonness of the commonplace" in each place he portrays. Inspired by the beauty of family snapshots, Eggleston looks at the everyday and the overlooked in order to reveal them as remarkable. Definitely a deeply american first-class talent.

DISCOVERING VENETIA SCOTT

Styling is not simply tinkering about with designer frocks, would do well take a look at Venetia Scott's groundbreaking work. Well-known as a stylist in the fashion industry but she is also an amazing photographer. She's been styling the Marc Jacobs ad campaigns from the beginning with Juergen Teller (with whom were a couple and had a child together)

Now, with a crucial component of today's fashion vocabulary, it's hard to imagine that Scott's seemingly "anti-fashion" aesthetic was once considered shocking. But in the late 1980s, her unconventional work (imperfectly beautiful models shot in nondescript locations, wearing clothes that appeared incidental) was dubbed, somewhat caustically, "grunge" and later considered as "heroin chic".
On her democratic methodology, which involved using second-hand clothes and vintage finds, she adds "I wanted to create something that you could aspire to without it involving a lot of money. None of the stories I did was about having a nice bag or an expensive outfit."

I'm overwhelmed of such amount of talent this woman has. Yes, a bit jealous (I confess).

1960s was a decade influenced by the elegance of the First Lady, Jacqueline Kennedy, she introduced the pillbox hat, a classic apparel accesory known around the world since then.
It was the era of women suits, usually in pastel colors, with short boxy jackets, and over-sized buttons. Simple, geometric dresses, known as shifts, were also in style. Also full-skirted evening gowns were worn; these often had a low décolletage and had close-fitting waists. Another must were capri trousers and stiletto-heeled shoes, both are still kicking in today's style.

Another of my precious fashion vintage mags, a kind of treasure to me, even the comercials are elegant and accurate. Please don't miss the LU add, with this enormous piece of butter behind, this would be the end of the brand today ... Even I find it amazingly great.

Can't stop finding exquisites to die for, it has been a kind of addiction lately. Maybe it's because I am aware I won't have all this stuff for xmas (or for any other occasion), so that's why I keep going and trying to get satisfied over all this marvelous pieces, although they are only there to be admired as objects of desire. That's what humans do right?
Wantting stuff and once getting it, wantting a new one.. and so successively. There is always a craving there. And as almost everything in life that can be positive or negative, it's always on the measure.

Danish born and London afincated, multidisciplinar designer Peter Jensen is celebrating his 10th birthday eponymous label! Therefore next month the designer will become the subject of the Victoria & Albert Museum's latest Fashion In Motion catwalk event, showcasing his womenswear and menswear collections from the last decade, as well as collaboration pieces and special set items.

Graduated in Central St. Martin's in 1999, his designs incorporate a celebratory approach to individuality, mischievous humour and an acute attention to detail, rendering them unconventional yet ultimately wearable. The superb collection here is Meryl Resort 2012.
Jensen’s ‘muses’ have wildly ranged from the bird-like Sissy Spacek, or identity-teasing New York artist Cindy Sherman, to the magisterial Helena Rubinstein. Jensen has designed capsule collections for a range of fashion outlets including Topman, Fred Perry, Ebonyivory, Falbe, Buddahood and B-Store. His designs are sold worldwide and can be found in B-Store London, Opening Ceremony New York, Side by Side Tokyo and UK Style in Moscow.

Based in Barcelona and inspired in primary and organic elements, El Colmillo de Morsa (which means 'walrus tusk') is a high end label brand created by talented designers Jordi Espino and Elisabeth Vallecillo, with a clue value: 'beautiful things have infinite forms, so many as people that look at them'. The designers duo have joined to make a project that resides in the attention to detail and rescue the handcraft beginnings, a union between tradition and modernity.
There is a Soviet touch in all this garments and patters. It makes me travel through time as if I were in somewhere between Russia, Austria and Germany. Imperial, strong personality and full of a sense of style that cannot leave you indifferent. Contrary, the raw material transmits warmth and personal sensibility.
In somehow it reminds me a bit to ACNE, are you with me? Anyway it's a fabulous find and Christmas is around the corner dudes!! :)

The Russian dessigner Ulyana Sergeenko has launched her debut Fall/Winter 2011 collection and I admit I am totally overwhelmed by it. She has become a total muse; stylish, charming, beautiful and stunningly powerfull. It's collection is her own reflection, very feminine silhouettes, beautiful fabrics, perfectly polished hairdo, pretty wallpaper and all-round sense of vintage ladylike glamor. All this are a subtle cue of its Russian sexuality. Definitely one of the most exciting I’ve seen for a long time. I could wear any of this and come back to the '50 for a while ♥

This project has started this weekend at Cibeles Fashion Week. It's been a great experience, rather than the fashion shows, for the fabulous people I've met and for all the luxury that Absolut has given us!

The company known for sponsoring Fashion Weeks throughout the world is also known for continually fusing modern ideas with the heritage of the past. And in no effort has this been more realized photographically than in this art piece. It was shot at Mercedes headquarter and home of the Mercedes museum—a place which showcases the entire history of Mercedes, in Stuttgart Germany.
There is timelessness to these images. They feel modern enough to be shot ten years in the future but with a reverence to the heritage that it could have been shot in the 40's or 50's.

I have the pleasure to present an exclusive portfolio from the iconic fashion and art photographer Deborah Turbeville who opens at Donna Karan London store its new exhibition, Tainted Beauty on 8th of September.
Describing herself as “avant-garde and extreme”, her stories are only partly told, featuring seemingly lost characters connected to the audience through their direct yet subdued interaction with the camera’s lens.
Classically composed, softly focused, elegant and melancholic, Turbeville’s it's part of a generation of fashion photographers who focused on the subject in their photographs as opposed to the clothes they are wearing, and who followed their own distinct conceptual agenda, rather than that of the stylist.

I have a huge weakness for this store. Have visited their brilliant website on a regular basis and there is something that tells me it is far from disappointing in real space.
Challenging new retail concept, LN-CC 5,000sq store is located in Dalston (Lnd) and is, literaly by their creators, “more of an installation piece than a traditional shop fit”.

"Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through."

De todo para todos. London es una ciudad inagotable que consigue saciar (o no) cualquier boca. Parada obligatoria en Backyard Market (Bricklane) y sus alrededores: derroche de ropa vintage y de diseño, joyas de época, artesania, complementos, vinilos, comida celestial y un sinfín de estilos, gustos, sentidos y colores para regocijarse a cámara lenta. Otro imprescindible es el restaurante Sketch y sus toiletes, experiencia asegurada.

Her name is Alba Condal, she lives in Barcelona, and considers herself a fan of jewelry, antiques and the magical animal world that she has created under the pseudonym of Pincesadelabocadefresa: a firm that, since 2008, offers an extensive collection of jewelry where nature, deer and love are the key players. Here there is the interview I did to her for H magazine a few months ago.

How did PBF born? It arises a bit like love, without notice. From the passion for art, fashion, jewelry, vintage style, but above all the fascination for small things. The beginning of the project were participating in markets like Lost & Found and several music festivals as the Sonorama or Sant Feliu Fest. After the unexpected success and the demands of the people, I designed the web princesadelabocadefresa while my creations were sold in several shops in Barcelona.
How and where did this catchy name of princesadelabocadefresa came out? I had a fotolog tears ago and it was my name there. It's inspired by the Sonatina of Ruben Dario
"The princess is sad ...". And even it's thelongestnameofthecentury (laughs), I've never found one that sounded just as well and I feel so identified.
How would you define your creations? What style describes you?
This is an extensive collection of jewelry inspired by a very special magical world which is dominated nature and small symbolic objects of sentimental value such as keys, anchors, hearts and animals. Everything is wrapped in a magic aura, freshness and romance.
Which animal would be PBF? Would certainly be a deer, a cute and adorable deer.
How do you think is the people who run PBF? I think they're mostly young girls with personality, sensitive, romantic and refined taste. Lovers of fashion and music, who like to feel special wearing something even more special. As PBF, looking for that stylish, exclusive and original.
Have you thought about doing a menswear collection? The truth is yes, most guys like PBF and are regular buyers of supplements to give to his girls. Also, some necklaces as REC, Oh my Anchor, the reflex camera, the steering wheel or rolls of film.. they bring them to wear for themselves.
Where would you like PBF and how to get your own? That's complicated ... Princesadelabocadefresa a part of myself, we're two in one and, although I prefer to focus more on the present, one of my dreams is to design jewelry for a brand or designer but above all I want to create my own collection with precious metals and stones, always with the essence of PBF. I am currently studying Jewelry Arts in Barcelona.
Have you thought grow internationally? The truth is that PBF currently has more international audience than national, I think it is because in Spain there is not accustomed to buying this type of product via internet, perhaps it is because of mistrust.
A group of music ... Only one? Band of Horses, The Smiths, Cat Power, Mazzy Star, Sigur Rós, The Cure, DCFC, Kings of Convenience, Feist, Portishead, Damien Rice, Tori Amos, ... In fact the collar Message in a Bottle is a collection of memorable songs with phrases like "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I want this time" by The Smiths.

¿Cómo surge PBF? Surge un poco como el amor: sin previo aviso. De la pasión por el arte, la moda, las joyas, el estilo vintage, pero sobretodo por la fascinación por las cosas pequeñas. Los inicios del proyecto fueron participando en mercadillos como el Lost&Found y en varios festivales de música como el Sonorama o el Sant Feliu Fest. Tras el éxito inesperado y las peticiones de la gente, diseñé la Web de princesadelabocadefresa y al mismo tiempo mis creaciones se iban vendiendo en varias tiendas de Barcelona.
¿Cómo y dónde surgió éste nombre tan pegadizo de princesadelabocadefresa? Hace años tenía un fotolog, y me hacía llamar así. El nombre está inspirado en la Sonatina de Rubén Darío: “La princesa está triste...”. Y aunque sea elnombremáslargodelahistoria (risas), nunca he encontrado otro que sonara igual de bien y me sintiera tan identificada.
¿Cómo definirías tus creaciones? ¿Qué estilo te describe?
Se trata de una amplia colección de joyas inspiradas en un mundo mágico muy particular en el cual predominan la naturaleza y pequeños objetos simbólicos de gran valor sentimental como son las llaves, las áncoras, los animales y los corazones. Todo está envuelto en un halo de magia, frescura y romanticismo.
¿Qué sería PBF si fuera un animal? Sin duda un ciervo, un tierno y adorable ciervo.
¿Cómo crees que es la gente que lleva PBF? Creo que son mayoritariamente chicas jóvenes con personalidad, sensibles, románticas y de un gusto refinado. Amantes de la moda y la música, a las que les gusta sentirse especiales llevando algo todavía más especial. Al igual que PBF, creo que buscan marcar estilo, exclusividad y originalidad.
¿Te has planteado hacer una colección masculina? La verdad es que sí, ya que a la mayoría de chicos les gusta PBF y son asiduos compradores de complementos para regalarlos a sus chicas. Además algunos collares como REC, Oh my Anchor, la Cámara reflex, el Timón o el Carrete de Fotos acaban por llevarlos ellos mismos.
¿Dónde te gustaría llegar cómo PBF y tu misma? Qué complicado… Princesadelabocadefresa está unida con lo personal ya que somos dos en una y, aunque prefiero centrarme más en el presente que en el futuro, uno de mis sueños es diseñar joyas para alguna marca o diseñador pero sobretodo quiero crear mis propias colecciones con metales preciosos y piedras, siempre con la esencia de PBF. Actualmente estoy estudiando Joyería Artística en Barcelona.
¿Te has planteado crecer a nivel internacional? La verdad es que actualmente PBF tiene más público internacional que nacional, creo que es debido a que en España todavía no hay costumbre de comprar este tipo de producto por internet, intuyo que quizás es por desconfianza.
Un grupo de música... ¿sólo uno? I spend hours looking for "the coat" for this winter without success, until I found a zara's coat in my closet from thousand years ago and started to work. I removed the pockets, the belt, make narrower the sides and put these amazing gold buttons! LOVE IT! Don't u?

I fell in love at first sight with this jacket on a trip to NY... I was surprised it was an Alpha Industries, one of the pioneers brands in military clothing. Since then it has been one of my basic, I adore the gold buttons!
